As a lifelong avid reader, I am familiar with the magical effect of well-tuned words. In pursuit of cracking the code of excellent storytelling, I completed a BFA in creative writing, specializing in poetry, at the University of Victoria in British Columbia.
In 2017, I moved to a small city in Quebec to learn French and teach English. At this time, I studied the craft of editing and began freelancing for an international editing company.
I am grateful for the privileged experiences which have allowed me to develop my expertise as an editor. It is my passion to understand the principles of clear writing; I hope that, in sharing my knowledge, I can support others to have their stories heard—with maximum magical effect.
Testimonials
“Claire Majors has raised FOLKLIFE’s editorial bar. She’s not only about finding and fixing all rogue typos and awkward sentences (which she does expertly and within our house style), but she goes the extra mile, offering so much valuable insight, expertise, passion, and generosity,
while even including some of her own terrific writing.
She offers quick turnaround times, efficiently done work, immediate responses, and, as a
bonus, she holds values in line with ours—caring about those who live close
to the earth, with intention and creativity. She’s gifted and will go
far. We feel blessed to have found her, and you will too.”
